The artistic production of Arturo Michelena, marks a reference as to the building of national identity, as well as to the formation of the collective memory of the Venezuelan,in this sense, the present investigation is the starting point of further works related to the theme, which we observed with alarm is unknown in the country, despite the importance of this artist not only in XIX century. The validity of the works is claimed  not by the events to which they refer, not by what they are in themselves. These works reflect not only the time and why becomes visual evidence of their particular way ofassuming the art being at the same time clear mediation of his personality. These are identified with their time, also become relevant conciliation to access a world with a heritage and aesthetic significance.La producción artística de Arturo Michelena marca una referencia en cuanto a la edificación de la identidad nacional, así como a la formación de la memoria colectiva del venezolano, en este sentido, la presente investigación es el punto de partida de otros trabajos relacionados con el tema, que con alarma observamos es desconocido en el país, a pesar de la importancia de este artista no solo en el siglo XIX. La validez de las obras se afirma no por los sucesos a los que aluden, si no por lo que son en sí mismas. Estas obras no solo reflejan la época y el por qué se convierte en evidencia visual de su particular manera de asumir el arte siendo a la vez clara mediación de su personalidad. Estas se identifican con su tiempo, además, se convierten en conciliación pertinente para acceder a un mundo con un significado patrimonial y estético.
