Patients wearing removable prostheses frequently present either focal or difusal swalloring of the kind Sub-prosthetic stomatitis, characterized by edema and hyperplasic tissue. Sub-prosthetic stomatitis has amultifactorial aetiology and among predisponent factors, the acrilic play a fundamental role because it has rough and porous surfaces that help the adhesion of Candida albicans, primary aetiologic agent. The purpose of this research was to establish which method (chemical and microwave) is the more effective for the elimination of Candida albicans in hard and soft basis in removable prostheses. Samples of hard and soft resines of 25 mm x 25 mm x 3 mm were prepared. Used methods: chemical (sodium hypoclorito at 2%, acetic acid at 5%, clorhexidina at 0.12% and alkaline peroxide) and microwave. Time used for deinfection 5’, 10’, 15’, 20’ and 8 hours for the chemical agents; 30’’, 45’’, 1’, 1,30’, 2’and 3’ for microwave. The sodium hipoclorito at 2%, ácido acético al 5%, clorhexidina al 0,12% eliminated Candida albicans in 5minutes. The alkaline peroxide eliminated themicroorganismat 8 hours. On the other hand, the microwave eliminated Candida albicans at 1,30 minutes. The faster and most effective disinfection method was microwave. 4-12 dops100@hotmail.com semestral
