La Hendidura Labio Palatina (HLP) es la anomalía craneofacial congénita que se origina por la falta de fusión de los
procesos faciales embrionarios. Estos pacientes presentan múltiples alteraciones anatómicas, estéticas y funcionales. El
objetivo fue describir las alteraciones en el desarrollo y crecimiento bucodental de los pacientes con HLP atendidos en el Módulo de Odontopediatría de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad de Los Andes, Mérida, Venezuela. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo retrospectivo y transversal. La población de estudio estuvo constituida por 48 historias
clínicas de pacientes con HLP desde 2008 hasta el 2015. Los datos obtenidos fueron edad, género, procedencia, tipo de hendidura, anomalías dentarias, maloclusión y hábitos bucales. Se realizó el análisis estadístico utilizando el
programa SPSS versión 19. El 58,30% corresponden al sexo masculino, con una edad promedio de 7,27 ± 2,10 años,
el 18,80% provienen del Municipio Libertador del Estado Mérida, la Hendidura Labio Palatina Unilateral Izquierda
predominó en un 56,30%, dientes con giroversión en un 47,30%, ausencias congénitas en un 52,60%, dientes supernumerarios en un 15,80%, dentición primaria Tipo I y Tipo II en un 20,80%, Clase I molar en un 39,60%, mordidas
cruzadas anteriores en un 56% y respiración bucal en un 70,80%. The cleft lip palate (CLP) is a congenital craniofacial anomaly caused by the lack of fusion of the respective embryonic
facial process. Those patients present multiple anatomic, aesthetic and functional alterations. The purpose was to
describe the changes in the dental development and growth of patients with CLP treated at the Pediatric dentistry module of the Dentistry’s School at the University of Los Andes, Mérida, Venezuela. A retrospective and cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted. The population of study was constituted by 48 medical records of patients with CLP
who were attended from 2008 until 2015. Age, sex, origin, type of malformation, dental anomalies, malocclusion and
oral habits were identified. Statistical analysis was performed by using SPSS version 19. The 58.30% were male with
an average age of 7.27 ± 2.10 years; 18.80% came from the Libertador Municipality of the Mérida State. Unilateral left Cleft Lip Palate dominates in a 56.30%, giroversion teeth in a 47.30%, congenital agenesis in a 52.60%, supernumerary teeth in a 15.80%, primary dentition type I and type II in a 20.80%, Class I molar in a 39.60%, anterior
