dc.descriptionLa química ha adquirido una alta preponderancia en la vida humana, razón por la cual es imperiosa la necesidad de reflexionar sobre los aspectos que integran su paradigma, y sobre su autonomía frente a las demás ciencias fácticas. Se toma como punto de partida para justificar esta autonomía, el marco conceptual derivado del sistema periódico de los elementos químicos. En el presente artículo de divulgación se ha realizado una exposición sistemática de este y otros aspectos que justifican y configuran una filosofía de la química, como un área dentro de la filosofía de la ciencia, que genera el espacio más idóneo para la reflexión sobre aspectos fundamentales conceptuales, metodológicos, lingüísticos, históricos y éticos de la química. Se exponen argumentos acerca de la necesidad de una filosofía de la química, sobre la importancia histórica de la filosofía atomista, sobre las concepciones de la materia, el flogisto y la influencia de los alquimistas, hasta llegar al concepto de elemento químico y al sistema periódico. Adicionalmente, se plantea que dentro de la filosofía de la química cabe una reflexión de los aspectos bioéticos en los cuales la química tiene responsabilidad, sobre el concepto de desarrollo sostenible y la química verde.
dc.descriptionChemistry has acquired a high relevance on human life; therefore, it is imperative to think about aspects that involve its paradigm, and on its autonomy facing other natural sciences. In order to justify this autonomy, a starting point to take into account is the conceptual frame derived from the periodic system of the chemical elements. In the present outreach article, a systematic exposition of this and other aspects is performed, that justifying and configuring a philosophy of chemistry, as a field immersed in the philosophy of science, that generates the most ideal space for the attentive consideration on the fundamental aspects of chemistry such as, reconciliation between nominalism and realism, methodology, linguistic, history, and ethics. The given arguments are related with the need for a philosophy of chemistry, on the historic relevance of the atomism, on the conceptuality of matter, the phlogiston, and the influence of the alchemists, until reaching the concept of the chemical element and the periodic system. Additionally, inside the philosophy of chemistry it is attempted to perform a reflection on bioethical aspects in which chemistry is responsible, on the concept of the development of sustainability and the green chemistry.
