The objective of this paper is to analyze the intellectual capital to manage knowledge inPublic Institutions of Higher Education, based on the theoretical contributions ofSchemerhorm and others (2008), Bocchetto (2008), Covey (2009), Bernárdez (2008),Mantilla (2004 ) Valecillos (2004), among others; be a documentary and descriptivereview. University Institutions require progress along social, economic, political andcultural changes taking place in society; also, considering the tools must renew intellectualcapital and knowledge as strategic factors to learn and continually innovate; creating,productive ideas that can be disseminated and applied for maximum performance.El objetivo del presente artículo es analizar el capital intelectual para gestionar elconocimiento en instituciones universitarias públicas, fundamentado en los aportesteóricos de Schemerhorm y otros (2008), Bocchetto (2008), Covey (2009), Bernárdez(2008), Mantilla (2004), Valecillos (2004), entre otros; siendo una revisión documental ydescriptiva. Las instituciones universitarias requieren avanzar al ritmo de los cambiossociales, económicos, políticos y culturales que experimenta la sociedad; así mismo,deben considerar el capital intelectual y el conocimiento como factores estratégicos paraaprender e innovar continuamente; creando así, ideas productivas que puedan serdifundidas y aplicadas para obtener el máximo rendimiento.
