| dc.description | Appearance of the Internet has led to the emergence of a great many new cultural practices for mankind, as well as the adaptation to cyberspace of others that already exist in everyday life. One of the latter is the obituary, whose evolution has gone beyond the pages of newspapers to be placed on radio, television, and today, on the so-called information superhighway. The main objective of this paper is to explainfrom an anthropo-semiotic perspectivethe presence of these obituaries on the Internet as part of a virtual rite of passage, which can be added to the traditional funeral rites known by society. The contributions of Van Gennep (2008) on rites of passage, the Semiotics of Culture by Lotman (1996) and the approaches of Del Fresno (2011) related to Nethnography were used to analyze a qualitative sample consisting of diverse obituaries taken as the corpus. Results demonstrate the role of this practice (which has become common in Latin America) as a rite ofseparation of the deceased from the world of the living and, in turn, as a rite of incorporation into the world of the dead, as well as its behavior as a border for a semiosphere involving life/death categories. Conclusions indicate that obituaries on the Internet not only represent a new form of virtual communication that involves interaction with the other side (thus becoming a bridge between the world of the living and the world of the dead), but also serve to express consolation for the bereaved, without omitting the difficulties of hypervisibility revealed by this likewise virtual business. | en-US |
| dc.description | La aparición de la Internet ha dado pie al surgimiento de un sinfín de nuevas prácticas culturales de la humanidad, así como a la adaptación en el ciberespacio de otras ya existentes en la vida cotidiana. Una de ellas son los llamados obituarios, cuya evolución ha trascendido las páginas de los periódicos para ubicarse en la radio, la televisión y, hoy día, en la denominada superautopista de la información. En este trabajo se persigue el objetivo general de explicar desde una perspectiva Antroposemiótica, la presencia de dichos obituarios en la Internet como parte de un rito de paso virtual, que se suma al conjunto de ritos funerarios clásicos conocidos por la sociedad. Para ello, se utilizaron los aportes de Van Gennep (2008) sobre los ritos de paso, la Semiótica de la Cultura de Lotman (1996) y los planteamientos de Del Fresno (2011) relacionados con la Netnografía, con el fin de analizar una muestra cualitativa integrada por diversos obituarios que se tomaron como corpus. Los resultados evidencian el papel que juega esta práctica (que se ha hecho común en Latinoamérica) como rito de separación del difunto del mundo de los vivos y, a su vez, como rito de agregación al mundo de los muertos; además de su comportamiento a manera de fronteras de una semiosfera que involucra las categorías vida/muerte. Entre las conclusiones se tiene que los obituarios en Internet no solo representan una nueva forma de comunicación virtual que envuelve una interacción con el más allá (constituyéndose en un puente entre el mundo de los vivos y el mundo de los muertos), sino que igualmente sirven para manifestar el consuelo de los deudos, sin dejar de mencionar las aristas de hipervisibilidad que deja colar este, también, negocio virtual. | es-ES |
