El presente ensayo tiene como propósito realizar un aporte al análisis sobre el papel de las regiones fronterizas subnacionales en los procesos de integración, teniendo en cuenta el marco de las transformaciones sufridas por el sistema internacional y las estrategias políticas latinoamericanas para hacer frente a sus consecuencias. Se trata, en este sentido, de ofrecer algunos elementos de juicio para incluir el tema de la participación de las regiones en el debate sobre la relación entre integración y desarrollo; poniendo el centro de atención en las áreas de frontera situadas en el contexto del MERCOSUR.The purpose of this work is to contribute to the analysis of the role of subnational border regions in the integration processes; taking into account the framework of the transformations undergone by the international system and the Latin American political strategies to deal with its consequences. It is, in this sense, anattempt to offer some valorative elements to include the issue of region’s participation in the debate on the relationship between integration and development; placing the focus on the border areas of MERCOSUR.31-35
