El Centro Interamericano de Educación Rural (CIER) tuvo su antecedente en la Escuela Normal Rural Interamericana (1954) que fue, a su vez, el modelo formador auspiciado por La OEA y la UNESCO. En el mismo fueron formados maestros en educación rural para Colombia y América Latina. El estudio metodológicamente se fundamenta en la investigación arqueológica y genealógica foucaultiana, pero al mismo tiempo, nos nutrimos con el análisis con las herramientas historiográficas de la Escuela de Annales (1929), para lo cual presentamos el aporte de Luis Beltrán Prieto Figueroa a la Escuela Normal Rural. La desaparición del CIER, y creación de la UPEL IPR GR a partir de 1983, trajo nuevos aires en la formación rural. Nos proponemos finalmente, decantar para la historia del currículum las áreas de formación de esa cantera que sirvió de modelo internacional desde la década del 50 del siglo XX.The Inter-American Center for Rural Education (CIER) was preceded by the Inter-American Rural Teaching School (1954) which was, at the same time, the teaching method model promoted by OAS and UNESCO. This served as a basis for training rural teachers in Colombia and Latin America. From the methodological point of view, the study is based on Foucaultian archeological and genealogical research as well as historiographical tools taken from the School of Annales (1929) by introducing the contribution of Luis Beltran Pietro Figueroa to the Rural Teaching School. The transition from the CIER to the UPEL IPR GR from 1983 onwards brought with it new ideas in the field of rural education.
