In this article the guiding principles, values and action strategies used by the teacher José Antonio Abreu Alselmi, during his personal and professional life, are analyzed, discussed and justified. It is a study of a qualitative nature, supported by the biographical or life stories method. The article reconstructs and reveals the personal professional life of this distinguished Venezuelan, based on the analysis of personal testimonies of the teacher and other social actors, who accompnied him during his professional life and that allowed to reveal the thoughts, feelings and actions of the illustrious teacher, in search of the realization of a dream: the creation of a system of orchestra in Venezuela. It ends, specifying the ethical, moral and values principles ​​that the teacher modeled and exposed before Venezuela and the world, for the formation of a proactive citizen, through learning and teaching musicEn el presente artículo se analiza, discute y justiprecian los principios rectores, valores y las estrategias de acción utilizadas por el maestro José Antonio Abreu Anselmi, durante su vida personal y profesional. Es un estudio de naturaleza cualitativo, con apoyo del método biográfico o de historias de vida. El artículo reconstruye y devela la vida personal y profesional de este insigne venezolano, sobre la base del análisis de testimonios personales del maestro y de otros actores sociales, que lo acompañaron durante su vida profesional y que permitieron develar el pensamiento, sentimientos y acciones del ilustre docente, en la búsqueda de la concreción de un sueño: la creación de un sistema de orquestas en Venezuela. Finaliza, puntualizando los principios éticos, morales y valores que el maestro modeló y expuso ante Venezuela y el mundo, para la formación de un ciudadano proactivo, a través del aprendizaje y la enseñanza de la música.
