The purpose of the research was to contextually argue the meanings that the actors assign to the teaching of statistics phenomenon. Given the complex, diverse and social ontology of the phenomenon, the episteme of the researchers is eminently qualitative, in whose phenomenological apprehension the phenomenological-hermeneutic method was used to interpret and understand the narrative of the social actors and the meaning-meaning that they give to the study phenomenon; for which the semi-structured in-depth interview was conducted. The epistemic reality of the study took place on the planes of the subjective and the intersubjective. The study's findings emerged from the students' experiential world through intersubjective consensus as a shared construction of knowledge. The interpretation of the findings was obtained from three (3) key informants that generated a theory of the teaching of applied statistics under the collaborative work approach.  El propósito de la investigación se centró en argumentar contextualmente los significados que los actores asignan al fenómeno enseñanza de la estadística. Dada la ontología compleja, diversa y social del fenómeno, el episteme de los investigadores es eminentemente cualitativo, en cuya aprehensión fenoménica se utilizó el método fenomenológico-hermenéutico para interpretar y comprender la narrativa de los actores sociales y el sentido-significado que le otorgan al fenómeno de estudio; para cual se manejó la entrevista en profundidad semiestructurada. La realidad epistémica del estudio transcurrió en los planos de lo subjetivo y lo intersubjetivo. Los hallazgos del estudio emergieron del mundo vivencial de los estudiantes por medio del consenso intersubjetivo como construcción compartida del conocimiento. La interpretación de los hallazgos se obtuvo de tres (3) informantes claves que generó una teorización de la enseñanza de estadística aplicada bajo el enfoque de trabajo colaborativo.
