In general, this article points to a broader reflection on the interest oberserved in contemporary historians to study the soldiers who were protagonists of the counterinsurgency, both in Mexico and in other parts of Latin America. In particular, it aims to analyze the Mexican and Mexicanist historiographical production that in recent decades has been generated around the figure of the Spanish soldier and political, Felix Maria Calleja, identify topics of interest and suggest new lines of research.En lo general, el artículo apunta hacia una reflexión más amplia sobre el creciente interés que se observa en el gremio de los historiadores contemporáneos por estudiar a los militares que fueron protagonistas de la contrainsurgencia, tanto en México como en otras partes de Hispanoamérica. En lo particular, tiene por objeto analizar la producción historiográfica mexicana y mexicanista que en las últimas décadas se ha generado en torno a la figura del militar y político español Félix María Calleja del Rey, identificar los temas de interés y sugerir nuevas líneas de investigación.
