dc.descriptionAs a part of Proyecto Aves y Café, USCAFE, led by Provita, Organización no Gubernamental Ambientalista, is carrying out a diagnostic investigation as a baseline study, with a quantitative approach, on the socioenvironmental and sociocultural characteristics of the producers located in the Project area, some 200 hectares, established in La Piedra de Cachimbo, community adjacent to Colonia Tovar, in the mountainous area of Vargas State, Venezuela, through a survey applied to thirtyfive producers of the one hundred and twentysix that comprise it, as well as a workshop on the Problem Tree with twenty of them with organizational experience, and indepth interviews with four key informants. This baseline study provides the information that guides the provision of technical assistance to encourage the incorporation of sustainable agroforestry practices and increase the cultivation of organic products, especially shade coffee, and thus recover the habitat of migratory birds, contribute to the preservation of biodiversity and water sources and improve the living conditions of producers, which aims to encourage their organization and promote alternatives for marketing organic items that can obtain certification to access international markets.en-US
dc.descriptionEn el marco del Proyecto Aves y Café, USCAFE, adelantado por Provita, ONG Ambientalista, se lleva a cabo una investigación diagnóstica en cuanto estudio de base, con un enfoque cuanticualitativo, sobre las características socioambientales y socioculturales de los productores ubicados en el área del Proyecto, unas 200 hectáreas, establecidos en la comunidad de Piedra de Cachimbo aledaña a la Colonia Tovar, en la zona montañosa del estado Vargas, Venezuela, a través de una encuesta aplicada a treinta y cinco productores de los ciento veintiséis que la comprenden, así como un taller sobre el Árbol de Problema con veinte de ellos con experiencia organizacional, y unas entrevistas en profundidad a cuatro informantes claves. Este estudio de base provee la información que orienta el suministro de asistencia técnica para incentivar la incorporación de prácticas agroforestales sustentables e incrementar el cultivo de productos orgánicos, especialmente el café de sombra, y así recuperar el hábitat de las aves migratorias, contribuir a la preservación de la biodiversidad y de las fuentes de agua y mejorar las condiciones de vida de los productores, con lo cual se aspira incentivar su organización y promover alternativas para comercializar rubros orgánicos que puedan obtener una certificación para tener acceso a mercados internacionales. es-ES
