The censorship of journalism in Venezuela

With the arrival of Hugo Chávez to power and later Nicolás Maduro, the Bolivarian revolution has been in charge of censoring the Venezuelan media, from the coverage ofevents that threaten the process, to the intimidation of journalists and photojournalists, violating the precepts established in the National Constitution as regards access to information, opting to hide everything negatively affects their interests and preventing criticism. For the investigation, the use of sources and organisms that touch on the theme of freedom of expression and its related ones was used, being these Inter-American Press Society (2017), Cañizález y Paz (2016), Carrasco (2015), Piña andCañizález (2011), Lares Bassa (2010), among others. As conclusion is that citizens perceive that the media transmit a reality made at their convenience or responding totheir needs for fear of being sanctioned, so there is a misinformation about the reality of the country, causing the Venezuelan media to lose credibility. Con la llegada de Hugo Chávez al poder, y luego Nicolás Maduro, la revolución bolivariana se ha encargado de censurar a los medios de comunicación de Venezuela,desde la cobertura de hechos que atenten contra el proceso, hasta el amedrentamiento a periodistas y reporteros gráficos, violando preceptos establecidos en la Constitución Bolivariana de Venezuela, en cuanto al acceso a la información se refiere, optando por esconder todo aquello que afecte negativamente sus intereses e impidiendo las críticas. Para la investigación, se empleó el uso de fuentes y organismos que tocan el tema delibertad de expresión y sus afines, siendo estos Sociedad Interamericana de Prensa2017), Cañizález y Paz (2016), Carrasco (2015), Piña y Cañizález (2011), Lares Bassa (2010), entre otros. Como conclusión se tiene: los ciudadanos perciben que los medios transmiten una realidad hecha a su conveniencia o respondiendo a sus necesidades por temor a ser sancionados, por lo que existe una desinformación sobre la realidad que vive el país, haciendo que los medios venezolanos pierdan credibilidad.
