Resumen
In the industry are used different heat exchangers types as those the shell tubes and the cross flow. Among the crossed flow we can find equipment manufactured with different fins types or extended surfaces. In this investigation, one worked with helical fins whose surface was modified with corrugations were used. In this opportunity, the effect is compared on the coefficient of transfer of heat by convection (h) of two corrugated levels (COR1 and COR2). Modification purpose is to increase convective heat transfer coefficient h. This work shows the data obtained as a result of tests carried out with several cross flow heat exchangers which were tested using a COR1 corrugated, besides, the number of fins per inch. The experimental results obtained show that the corrugated on the surface of the fins it increases the magnitude notably of the heat transfer coefficient for convection and pressure drop, compared with flat fins O-ring type values mentioned in different references, working under same conditions. Additional to this, it was obtained that the COR1 showed an increment the heat transfer coefficient for convection superior to that of the COR2.
