| dc.description | It is well known that Aristotle privileges the soul over the body throughout his work. However, it is no less true that he believes that the body constitutes an important object of inquiry, among other reasons, due to its relevance within his practical philosophy. Keeping in mind these remarks, this article, first, shows why Aristotle considers the soul more important than the body from an ontological point of view; secondly, it indicates that the same is also valid with regard to practical philosophy; third, it argues that, nevertheless, for Aristotle it is essential that the good politician not only legislate on the soul, but also on the body; fourth and last, it brings up a series of texts from Book VII of Aristotle’s Politics, which shows the relevance of the legislation on the body,including a eugenic plan. | en-US |
| dc.description | Pese a que sea de sobra conocido como Aristóteles privilegia lo anímico frente a lo corpóreo a lo largo de su obra, no menos cierto es que a juicio del macedonio el cuerpo constituye un importante objeto de estudio, entre otras cuestiones, por su relevancia en lo que atañe a la filosofía práctica. Con este marco de fondo, el presente artículo, primero, muestra el motivo por el que Aristóteles considera más importante el alma que el cuerpo desde un punto de vista ontológico; en segundo lugar, evidencia que esto mismo también resulta válido en lo que respecta a la filosofía práctica; tercero, argumenta que, no obstante, para Aristóteles resulta fundamental que el buen político no sólo legisle atendiendo el alma, sino también sobre el cuerpo; en cuarto y último lugar, se trae a colación una serie de textos del libro VII de la Política, en la que se muestra la relevancia que tiene la legislación sobre el cuerpo, incluyendo un plan de eugenesia. | es-ES |
