Resumen
An effective Hamiltonian describing interaction between generic fast and slow systems is obtained in the strong interaction limit. The result is applied for studying the effect of quantum phase transition as a bifurcation of the ground state of the slow subsystem. Examples such as atom-field and atom-atom interactions are analyzed in detail. In the non-degenerate case (when both transitions can be accessed independently) a complete reconstruction is possible. In the degenerate case (when both transitions are excited simultaneously), the complete reconstruction is achievable only for a single atom in the ? configuration. For multiple ? atoms, or even a single atom in the ? configuration, only partial reconstruction is possible. Examples of one- and two-atom cases are explicitly considered. " 2008 IOP Publishing Ltd.
