Resumen
During the last years, there has been increased interest in developing efficient radial basis function (RBF) algorithms to solve partial differential problems of great scale. In this article, we are interested in solving large PDEs problems, whose solution presents rapid variations. Our main objective is to introduce a RBF dynamical domain decomposition algorithm which simultaneously performs a node adaptive strategy. This algorithm is based on the RBFs unsymmetric collocation setting. Numerical experiments performed with the multiquadric kernel function, for two stationary problems in two dimensions are presented. Pisarchik, A.N.",,"2007",,"We focus into the development of an efficient method to control multistable systems in the presence of noise. The method is based on the addition of an external control force in the form of a slow harmonic modulation with properly chosen frequency and amplitude. Although noise is usually a non desirable condition, it has been recently demostrated that in coupled systems cooperative effects of the periodic force and noise are produced. This enhancement phenomena in the response of the deterministic equations is interpreted as stochastic resonance. Our main purpose is to study deterministic resonances between the different solutions of the multistable system and the external modulation. Then, all efforts will concentrate in the enhancement of the control method produced by noise.",,,,,,"10.1117/12.742366",,,"http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12104/43163","http://www.scopus.com/inward/record.url?eid=2-s2.0-37649017128&partnerID=40&md5=25d90eee70f3872099a8e2134af855ee",,,,,,,,"Proceedings of SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering",,,,"6422",,"Scopus",,,,,,"Chaos control; Noise",,,,,,"Noise enhanced control of multistability",,"Conference Paper"

Berman, G.P. Sanchez Martinez, J.M. Sayre, R.T.",,"2013",,"Electron transfer (ET) between primary electron donor and acceptor is modeled in the photosynthetic complexes. Our model includes (i) two discrete energy levels associated with donor and acceptor, which are directly interacting and (ii) two continuum manifolds of electron energy levels ("sinks"), each interacting with the donor and acceptor. We also introduce external (classical) noise which acts on both donor and acceptor. We derive a closed system of integro-differential equations which describes the non-Markovian quantum dynamics of the ET. A region of parameters is found in which the ET dynamics can be simplified, and described by coupled ordinary differential equations. Using these simplified equations, both cases of sharp and flat redox potentials are analyzed. We analytically and numerically obtain the characteristic parameters that optimize the ET rates and efficiency in this system. In particular, we demonstrate that even for flat redox potential a simultaneous influence of sink and noise can significantly increase the efficiency of the ET. We discuss a relation between our approach and the Marcus theory of ET. " 2013 Springer Science+Business Media New York.
