| dc.description | RESUMEN:Se destaca la importancia de un enfoque integrado en el estudio de la evolución del esfuerzo reproductivo y la inversión por propágulo (tamaño del propágulo). Un modelo integrado simple revela efectos directos e indirectos sobre estas variables evolutivas, inducidos por los factores selectivos siguientes: a) fuentes de mortalidad, clasificadas según la fase que afectan (propágulo o adulto) y su naturaleza (evitable o inevitable), y b) la energia disponible al individuo adulto. Los efectos indirectos emergen cuando la relación entre la fecundidad efectiva y la inversión reproductiva es no lineal. Tal condición es posible postulando que el costo por propágulo y/o su supervivencia dependen del número de propágulos producidos. Los efectos indirectos amplian la gama de factores quc afectan el tamaño de] propágulo, y no podrían ser detectados mediante el enfoque parcial tradicional.ABSTRACT: The importance of an integrative approach to study the evolution of reproductive effort and per propagule investment (propagule size) is emphasized. A simple integrative model reveals both direct and indirect effects on this evolutionary variables induced by the following selective factors: a) mortality sources, classified according to affected stage (propagule or adult) and to its nature (avoidable or unavoidable), and b) energy availability for the adult individual. Indirect effects emerge when the relationship between effective fecundity and reproductive investment is not linear. Such a condition is possible assuming that per propagule cost and/ or its survival depend on propagule number. Indirect effects enlarge the spectrum of factors that affect propagule size, and they could not be detected by the traditional partial approach. | |
