Este artículo presenta un análisis del periódico <i>El Censor</i>, publicado entre 1815 y 1819, como una evidencia cultural y material de la época. Por ello, evalúa a la publicación y a sus editores en su propio contexto histórico, para distinguir cómo este influyó en la producción escrita del periódico. El análisis se realiza por medio del relevamiento de la sección “Noticias”, teniendo en cuenta los diferentes conceptos de noticia de los editores, los recursos culturales/ideológicos propios de cada redactor y el tratamiento que realizaron de las figuras que hoy se consideran personajes históricos, relacionando los acontecimientos ocurridos paralelamente en el Río de la Plata, América y Europa.This paper presents an analysis of the newspaper <i>El Censor</i>, published between 1815 and 1819, as a cultural and material evidence of its time. Therefore, it evaluates the publication and its editors in their own historical context, to distinguish how it influenced the written production of the newspaper. The analysis is performed by the survey of the "News" section, taking into account the different concepts of news of the publishers, the cultural/ideological resources of each editor and the treatment of the subjects that today are considered historical figures, linking parallel events in the Río de la Plata, America and Europe.Facultad de Periodismo y Comunicación Social
