Peru is a megadiverse country, with thousands of native species, mainly due to three factors: its proximity to the Equator, a body of water with low temperatures and the Andes Mountains, giving rise to a great biodiversity; these factors lead to our country being considered rich in traditional knowledge, mostly from the Andean-Amazonian cultures, passed down from generation to generation through experience, observation and word of mouth. In spite of this, there is notoriously little registration, preservation and dissemination of this knowledge. For this reason, the present research was aimed at determining the ethnobotanical knowledge in the district of Simbal, Trujillo, La Libertad - Peru. To this end, a total of 93 surveys were carried out in order to collect information relevant to the taxonomic and ethnobotanical characteristics of the species used by the inhabitants of this district; a total of 125 plant species were recorded and nine categories were determined (9 species in AA, 75 species in AH, 37 species in M, 9 species in MA, 3 species in UC, 21 species in OR, 5 species in UH, 9 species in C and 1 species in O); distributed in 104 genera and 45 families, mainly including: Leguminosae (14 species), Solanaceae (11 species), Compositae (8 species), Poaceae (8 species). The most important flora species for the Simbal Community are: Zea mays "maiz", Zingiber officinale "kion", Allium sativum "ajo", Melia azedarach "cinamomo", Piper aduncum "matico", Persea americana "palta", Matricaria chamomilla "manzanilla", Opuntia ficus-indica "tuna", Rosmarinus officinalis "romero" and Pinus patula "pino".
