Eficacia antibacteriana in vitro de la superficie de cobre sobre staphylococcus aureus meticilino resistente en comparación con acero inoxidable

Objetivo: Evaluar la eficacia antibacteriana in vitro de la superficie de cobre sobre Staphylococcus aureus meticilino resistente (SAMR) en comparación con acero inoxidable.
Materiales y método: Se trabajó con una cepa de SAMR y superficies metálicas (1cm2) de cobre (grupo experimental) y acero inoxidable (grupo control); se realizó 16 repeticiones en cada grupo. La eficacia antibacteriana y la adherencia bacteriana al metal se determinaron de acuerdo a la cantidad de Unidades Formados de Colonias (UFC) presentes luego de la exposición a los metales. Para el análisis se empleó, la prueba "U de Mann - Whitney" y "t de student" con p< 0,05.
Resultados: Eficacia antibacteriana: el grupo experimental mostró una media de eficacia del 100% a diferencia del grupo control, 14,15% (p<0.05). Adherencia bacteriana al metal: el grupo experimental mostró un rango promedio de 8.5 UFC/mL y el grupo control de 24.5 UFC/mL con diferencia altamente significativa (p<0.001).
Conclusiones: La superficie de cobre mostró 85,85% más eficacia antibacteriana In Vitro sobre SAMR que el acero inoxidable. La adherencia de SAMR a la superficie de cobre fue menor que a la de acero inoxidable
