tracción, fueron los que contienen 4 % de propilenglicol In the present work, the influence of the type and percentage of plasticizer on the tensile
strength, deformation and stiffness of bioplastics obtained from modified and reinforced starch
from Manihot esculenta crantz was evaluated. The starch was obtained by the manual process
and the bioplastic by the casting process. The types of plasticizer were: glycerol and propylene
glycol and the percentages of plasticizer used for the production of the bioplastic were 4, 7, 9,
10, 13% by weight. For the study, 50 rectangular bioplastic specimens with dimensions of 100
x 15 mm were made as indicated by the ASTM D882 standard. The final results show that
Manihot esculenta crantz starch-based bioplastic films obtained at different levels of glycerol
have a maximum strength value of 1.74 MPa for 4% glycerol and a minimum value of 0.08
MPa for 13% glycerol. glycerol. Regarding deformation, the maximum was reached at a value
of 72.67% at 8% glycerol and the minimum deformation at 21.41% with 13% glycerol.
Regarding stiffness, the maximum value was obtained at 4% glycerol being 5.02 MPa and the
minimum at 13% glycerol with 0.38 MPa. While the resistance was obtained in bioplastic films
obtained at different percentages of propylene glycol, I feel the maximum of 2.89 MPa for 4%
of propylene glycol and the minimum of 0.15 MPa for 13% of it. Regarding deformation, the
maximum value of 89.42% was reached at 8% of propylene glycol and the minimum at 21.32%
at 4% of propylene glycol. Regarding rigidity, the maximum value was obtained at 4% of
propylene glycol being 13.89 MPa and the minimum at 13% of propylene glycol with 0.37 MPa.
It was concluded that the optimal percentages of addition of plasticizer that allowed to obtain
the best values of resistance and deformation in traction, were those that contain 4% of
propylene glycol.
