Objetivo: Determinar el nivel de conocimiento sobre lactancia materna en madres primigestas con niños lactantes menores de 6 meses en el Hospital Distrital Jerusalén II-1. Material y métodos: Estudio descriptivo, en madres primigestas con niños lactantes menores de 6 meses en el Hospital Distrital Jerusalén II-1 en el periodo 2017-2018; para ello, se aplicó un cuestionario a la muestra de ciento siete madres primigestas con niños lactantes menores de 6 meses Para el procesamiento de información, se empleó el programa SPSS versión 21 y Excel. Resultados: En cuanto al nivel de conocimiento sobre la lactancia materna exclusiva en madres primigestas el 53.3% (n=57) tenían un nivel de conocimiento medio, el 45.8% (n=49) tenían un nivel de conocimiento alto, y el 0.9% (n=16) tenían un nivel de conocimiento bajo. Con respecto al estado civil el mayor porcentaje fue de conviviente con un 65.4% (n=70). En cuanto al nivel de instrucción el 54.2% (n=58) era secundaria, de los cuales el 77.6% (n=45) era completa. Conclusión: El nivel de conocimiento sobre la lactancia materna exclusiva de exclusiva en madres primigestas con niños lactantes menores de 6 meses es medio con un 53.3% (n=57) y alto en 45.8% (n=49).
