Objetivo: Describir las características epidemiológicas, clínicas y ecográficas de la cirrosis hepática en el Hospital Regional Docente de Trujillo. periodo 2012-2016. Materiales y método: El diseño fue observacional, descriptivo y transversal, se revisaron 221 historias clínicas de las cuales se seleccionaron 175 que cumplieron los criterios de Selección. Resultados: El 36.57% de los casos correspondió al intervalo de edad 60-69 años. El 55.43% correspondió al género masculino. Las causas más frecuentes de cirrosis fueron consumo de alcohol (45.14%) y hepatitis B (7.43%). Estuvieron en estadio B de Child- Pugh el 52%, y estadio C el 39.4%. El principal motivo de hospitalización fue hemorragia digestiva variceal, seguido por ascitis y alteración del nivel de conciencia. La ecoestructura hepática granular se encontró en el 56% seguido por ecoestructura nodular con 40% . Se encontró tamaño de vena porta normal en 52% de los casos. Se evidencio tamaño esplénico mayor a 13 cm en 52.57% de los casos. Conclusiones: Las características epidemiológicas identificadas con más frecuencia fueron: intervalo 60-69 años, género masculino y etiología alcohólica; las características clínicas fueron hemorragia digestiva alta variceal y estadio B de Child-Pugh; las características ecográficas fueron ecoestructura granular, tamaño de vena porta normal y esplenomegalia.
