The main objective of the present work was to reduce the load in the explosive column in order to obtain the fragmentation of rocks greater than 5 inches in the recovery of pillars, reducing the hours of work in the pallaqueo and reducing the loss of fines in artisanal mining in Pataz.
The methodology that this research followed was to use a descriptive method; this study meets the methodological conditions of an applied research. The population is all face and pit blasting in artisanal mining in Pataz, and the sample is face and pit blasting in the Santa María production unit.
The load in the explosive column will be reduced to obtain the fragmentation of rocks greater than 5 inches in the recovery of pillars in artisanal mining, identifying and describing the rock mass where it will be reduced that the rock is regular type IIIB with an adjusted RMR of 48 and quality rock "D"; the explosive charge used in the conventional drilling and blasting mesh was analyzed; where the average explosive used in conventional blasting in the face is 6.78kg and in the pit is 1.73kg; while in the current blasting the front is 3.58kg and in the pit it is 1.39kg. The recommended explosive charges will also be reduced and analyzed, where the average percentage of recovery in the pit is 53% with the conventional method and 85% with the current method. The average percentage of recovery in front is 29% for the conventional method and 49% for the current method.
Finally, the fragmentation of rocks from the working front was analyzed, where it was obtained that 99% of the rocks vary between 0.19 inches and 3.87 inches and then, and with the current method, the fragmentation had a notable improvement, where it is shown that only 10.05% of the rocks are 5 inches in size, that is, 89.95% of the rocks are larger than 5 inches.
