La presente investigación pre–experimental, se realizó en el Hospital “Jerusalén” - La Esperanza, en el año 2016, con la finalidad de determinar la efectividad del programa “Alimentando al bebé” en el nivel de conocimiento sobre lactancia materna en primigestas. La muestra estuvo constituida por 35 primigestas que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión. Para la recolección de datos se utilizó el instrumento: Escala para medir el nivel de conocimientos sobre lactancia materna. La información obtenida fue procesada en el IBM SPSS STAISTICS versión 23 y analizada mediante la prueba estadística “T-Student”. Los resultados se presentan en tablas estadísticas de simple y doble entrada. Después del análisis se concluye: el 54.7% de primigestas presentaron un nivel bajo de conocimiento sobre lactancia maternaantes de la aplicación del programa educativo. El 80% de primigestas presentaron un nivel alto de conocimiento sobre lactancia materna después de la aplicación del programa educativo. El programa fue significativo al aumentar el nivel de conocimientos sobre lactancia materna en primigestas (p=0.0), y eficiente porque aumento el nivel de conocimientos en un 67% aceptándose la hipótesis verdadera.
