Efecto de la relación agua teñido/carbón activado y tiempo en la adsorción de agua residual de la etapa de teñido en una curtiembre

Se investigó la capacidad de adsorción de carbón activado en reducción del contenido del colorante Black NTI presente en el efluente de teñido de una curtiembre, para ello se determinaron las propiedades fisicoquímicas de este último, tales como: aceites y grasas, demanda química de oxígeno (DQO), conductividad eléctrica, sólidos totales y sólidos totales en suspensión; así como la determinación del índice de yodo del carbón activado. Antes del tratamiento del efluente con carbón activo, se realizó una filtración para la eliminación de sólidos en suspensión, así como la extracción de aceites y grasas. Se evaluaron los efectos de, tiempo de contacto, peso del adsorbente y concentración del adsorbato. Los resultados mostraron una capacidad máxima de adsorción del colorante Black NTI de 7.71 mg/g a temperatura ambiente, tiempo de 90 minutos y una relación de 100 mL de agua teñido por un gramo de carbón activado. La reducción del colorante al final del tratamiento fue del 73.58 %. Se concluye de esta manera que el carbón activado es un buen adsorbente para la remoción del colorante Black NTI contenido en las aguas residuales de teñido de una curtiembre
