Fragmentación de hábitat ribereño, en función de los vertebrados, fanerógamas y erosión de la cuenca alta del río mayo, san martín, Perú. 2006 - 2007

Por su ubicación, elevada biodiversidad y alto índice poblacional, la Cuenca Alta del río Mayo es considerada una de las más importantes en la región San Martín, motivo por el cual se priorizó el estudio de sus ecosistemas de ribera para determinar los efectos de las actividades antrópicas, a través de la identificación de fanerógamas, aves bioindicadoras, pesca pasiva y determinación de erosión como indicadores de fragmentación de hábitat ribereño, con la aplicación del método del perfil longitudinal a lo largo del río Mayo, desde Aguas Verdes hasta Marona. Los muestreos se realizaron a través de plots previamente identificados mediante técnicas de georeferenciación, y en los que se caracterizó la distribución y densidad vegetal y de ornitofauna, se describió las actividades antrópicas y grado de erosión de las laderas ribereñas. Los datos se registraron en matrices y procesaron en el software Arcview 3.2 para modelar el comportamiento espacial de de los aspectos ambientales relacionados con las la distribución de las fanerógamas y la fragmentación del hábitat ribereño. Se registraron un total de 114 especies de fanerógamas en las riberas del río Mayo, siendo Gynerium sagittatum la más abundante y relacionada a erosión de grado 1 y pérdida de suelo. Hubo un total de 171 especies de aves con distribución predominantemente al azar y en las diferentes condiciones de hábitat. Las más abundantes fueron Chardeleis rupestris, seguida de Aratinga leucophtalma. Las actividades de agricultura extensiva como cultivos de plátano, arroz, maíz y papaya, son las principales causantes de la fragmentación de los ecosistemas, reduciendo los bosques primarios y secundarios a un 8% de la vegetación ribereña, aproximadamente.
