Diseño de indicadores sintéticos de calidad ambiental para las principales ciudades peruanas con enfoque multivariante

El propósito de la presente investigación fue determinar cuáles son los componentes del índice sintético de calidad ambiental urbano (ISCAU) y la forma de clasificar las ciudades capitales de provincias peruanas, en base a indicadores ambientales disponibles. La población de estudio estuvo conformada por las capitales provinciales con más de veinte mil habitantes, y la muestra, por 47 ciudades para las que fue posible obtener información de nueve indicadores de calidad ambiental urbana. Se realizaron análisis estadísticos descriptivos-comparativos del ISCAU para las macroregiones, regiones naturales y tipos de capitales: provinciales y departamentales; asimismo fueron aplicados el análisis factorial de componentes principales y el análisis de conglomerados, para hallar respuestas a las partes principales del problema de investigación; utilizando el software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, (SPSS-18). Los nueve indicadores ambientales disponibles fueron agrupados en dos componentes principales denominados calidad ambiental en el hogar y calidad ambiental fuera del hogar, que lograron explicar el 76.6% de las variaciones del ISCAU. Fueron calculados los ISCAU de las ciudades y se validaron mediante sus índices de calidad de vida (ICV) e índices de desarrollo humano (IDH), asimismo, las ciudades fueron ordenados en un ranking y luego agrupadas por su similaridad ambiental.
