Resumen
En el presente trabajo de investigación descriptiva, se ha evaluado la calidad mediante
inspección visual de discontinuidades en uniones soldadas en base al código AWS D1.1 de
uniones soldadas mediante proceso de soldadura por arco eléctrico manual con electrodo
revestido, con las siguientes características: cuatro soldaduras de fillet de 6”x 4”x 2”x 0.25”
y una soldadura de ranura de 6”x 4”x 0.25”
Se identificó el tipo de discontinuidades y se dimensiono utilizando galgas para inspección
visual recomendados por la sociedad americana de soldadura. y la evaluación se realizó de
acuerdo al código de soldadura AWS D1.1. identificándose discontinuidades superficiales
como son porosidades, socavado lateral, falta de llenado, traslapes, grietas longitudinales y
transversales al cordón de soldadura y golpe de arco.
Los resultados sugieren que visualmente lo que aparentemente constituye un defecto, solo
es una discontinuidad de acuerdo a la evaluación correspondiente, concluyendo que el tipo
y tamaño de la discontinuidad en las probetas de las uniones soldadas varían y se evalúa su
posible rechazo al constituir defecto con el código aplicable.
