Defectología de uniones soldadas evaluadas mediante inspección visual de acuerdo al código AWS D1.1

Resumen
En el presente trabajo de investigación, se ha evaluado la defectología de la unión
soldada mediante proceso de soldadura por arco eléctrico manual con electrodo
revestido, con las siguientes características: cuatro juntas en T, soldadura de
filete de 6”x 4”x 2”x 0.25” y una junta a tope, soldadura de ranura de 6”x 4”x
0.25”.
Se determinó el tipo y tamaño de discontinuidades, los tamaños de soldadura de filete,
ranura, el tamaño de las discontinuidades, mediante el uso de varios tipos de calibradores
de soldadura recomendados por la sociedad americana de soldadura y la evaluación se
realizó con el código AWS D 1.1. Determinándose discontinuidades del tipo: porosidad,
socavado, falta de llenado, solape, grietas, golpe de arco, convexidad excesiva,
concavidad excesiva.
Los resultados producto de esta investigación descriptiva muestran una gran variación en
cuanto a lo que aparentemente es un defecto, que después de la evaluación constituye solo
una discontinuidad, concluyendo que el tipo y tamaño de la discontinuidad en las
probetas de las uniones soldadas varían y se evalúan su posible rechazo o aceptación al
constituir de acuerdo con el código aplicable.
Se logró elaborar un procedimiento de inspección visual para la evaluación de
discontinuidades en uniones soldadas en base al código AWS D1.1.
