Los pasivos ambientales son aquellas instalaciones, efluentes, emisiones, restos o
depósitos de residuos producidos por operaciones mineras en la actualidad abandonada o
inactiva, estos producen drenaje de ácido de mina y que constituyen un riesgo
permanente y potencial para la salud de la población, el ecosistema circundante y la
propiedad. El caso de estudio se presenta en la comunidad de Alpamarca, ubicadas en la
microcuenca del Rio Parcoy, provincia de Pataz; la problemática de esta comunidad se
centra en los conflictos que sostiene con el consorcio minero Nuevo Horizonte, motivo
que sustentan los comuneros debido a su historia en defensa de sus derechos ambientales.
Para ello se trazó como objetivo general establecer la vulnerabilidad de los pasivos
ambientales mineros en el recurso hídrico de la microcuenca del rio Parcoy. Así mismo
de emplear el enfoque ecosistémico para determinar el manejo adecuado de los
ecosistemas, fundamentado en el entendimiento de la interdependencia entre los sistemas
físicos, biológicos y sociales.
Los resultados demostraron que los relaves contienen sulfuros que aportan con
elementos tóxicos a los ríos sobrepasando los límites permisibles, caso contrario
sucedería si les explicara con total honestidad lo que los proyectos implican para su
habitad.
