El presente estudio tiene como objetivo determinar la relación entre los Componentes de Inteligencia Emocional y Violencia Escolar en adolescentes de dos Instituciones Educativas Privadas de los distritos de San Juan de Lurigancho y Ancón. El diseño utilizado es no experimental y de tipo descriptiva y selectiva correlacional y enfoque cuantitativa. Participaron 176 estudiantes y el muestreo empleado fue aleatorio simple. Se utilizó la Escala de Inteligencia Emocional The Trait Meta- Mood Scale (TMMS-24) adaptada y validada por Extremera y Fernández – Berrocal (2001) y el Cuestionario de Violencia Escolar en secundaria (CUVE-ESO) elaborado por Álvarez, Núñez y Dobarro (2013). Se obtuvo que existe una relación inversa de intensidad débil entre inteligencia emocional y violencia escolar con una correlación rho= -.340 y un nivel de significancia menor a 0.05, es decir, que a mayor inteligencia emocional el índice de violencia escolar es menor o viceversa. Asimismo, son las estudiantes mujeres quienes presentan niveles altos respecto a los componentes de inteligencia emocional mientras que los varones presentan índices elevados de violencia escolar. Además, los estudiantes de cuarto y quinto año de secundaria poseen indicadores altos de comprensión emocional y violencia escolar respectivamente. Finalmente, no se encontró diferencias entre ambos distritos sobre violencia escolar.
