The Laboratories of the Academic Units of the Technical University of Machala, dedicated to the use of dangerous chemical substances, are considered a silent enemy, every day a minimum income of 25 students is registered in the soil laboratory. This area, being exposed to these substances daily and subject to physical hazards, damage to health and the environment that can cause. Due to the foregoing, the objective of designing a safety and good practices manual for the laboratory was raised, based on the NTE-INEN 2266 standard on Transport, storage and handling of hazardous materials. For the elaboration of the research, bibliographic sources were used, such as books, articles and scientific journals, as well as secondary sources. The present work deploys a qualitative approach since it allowed the clear and precise identification of the compatibility and categorization of the chemical substances present in the soil laboratory. The investigation is descriptive and explanatory, since with the results obtained in the categorization the incompatibility of the substances is revealed and the necessary rules to avoid accidents are described. 37 chemical substances were identified, of which six are the most used for soil analyzes. The manual presents the necessary measures to prevent and counteract the physical risks present in the soil laboratory.
