One of the criteria evaluated by the Council for the Evaluation, Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Higher Education (CEAACES), Higher Education Institutions (IES), are the policies, mechanisms, resources and procedures that promote the quality of management academic, and among the parameters that stand out in this evaluation, are the information management systems. At present, the Technical University of Machala (UTMACH) does not have a system that allows the management and automation of the processes concerning academic and research events such as congresses, symposia, among others, which are organized within the community university That is why, the need arises to develop and implement a web platform that manages the information of that kind of events; in order to meet the needs demanded by the Research Center of the UTMACH, as the organizer of these events. The objective of this proposal is to develop a web system for the automation of the management of academic events and researchers organized by the UTMACH using the programming language PHP, MYSQL database and XP (extreme programming). For the selection of technology it is useful for the current characteristics and for the development of this project. The system automates the following processes: (i) event management, (ii) assistant registration, (iii) assistance, (iv) registration, (v) credentials and (vi) reports. In addition to this, a mobile application is used that allows the attendance of the people registered in the events with reading of the code Quick Response (QR) printed on the credentials of the assistants. The requirements to develop the web system were collected through the interviews with customers. With the intention of achieving a well structured system, we have chosen to maintain a constant relationship with the client, through meetings, to review the requirements and development of the system. Among the tools that have been selected for the development of the technological presentation tool are: (i) use of the Laravel framework, (ii) PHP programming language, (iii) JavaScript, (iv) HTML, (v) CSS, (vi) Ajax and other resources that can be used to fulfill the project objective. For the evaluation of the quality of the platform of automation of the processes of academic - investigative events, the ISO / IEC 25000: 2014 also known SQuaRE (System and Software Quality Requirements and Evaluation) is used, by means of the model division of quality (ISO / IEC 25010), which has criteria that must be met to achieve a quality system. The system managed to comply with the requirements of the users and managers of the Research Department to be implemented for the UTMACH. In addition, this platform meets the characteristics of cloud computing and parameterization, so they can also be used. The service model of the system is Software as a Service (SaaS) type, which consists of providing the system that needs the automation of the management of academic events.
