Introduction: It refers to child abuse when a minor suffers occasionally or habitually acts of violence; for 2016, 275 million children were abused worldwide; in Latin America and the Caribbean, 58% of children suffer from this social problem, while in Ecuador only 22% of the homes are treated well. Objective: To specify the psychosocial factors, clinical manifestations and protocol of attention in child maltreatment through analysis of the literature for the integral management of this type of crime. Methods: Search and analysis of 35 scientific documents, of which 21 were selected, the selection was applied to the documents published after 2014 and that present relevant information, are divided between scientific articles published on platforms such as PubMed or Academic Google and current guides of attention in their respective countries. Conclusions: The psychosocial factors and clinical manifestations are similar in different countries of the world, the care protocols are aimed at the prevention of child maltreatment, however there is no established consensus as in the case of the United States, on the other hand, although the protocols they are based on the policies in force in their respective country, the structure of which is based on guidance, counseling, treatment with a multidisciplinary team, reference, monitoring in the legal, clinical, psychological therapy and social work personnel.
