Resumen
Soil is the most important construction material in what corresponds to the field of civil engineering, since it serves as support for structures such as buildings, bridges, roads and all types of civil works. Due to the high-profile projects that occur throughout the country, the need to have the study of soils has been increasing, however, despite this, the problems persist, mostly due to inadequate evaluation of soil behavior. In the present document the study of the soil typology where the construction of the Bella India - Canton Machala Traffic Distributor is carried out, the soil classification was done through the unified soil classification system "Sucs". For this, tests had to be applied in the laboratories of the Academic Unit of Civil Engineering - UTMACH, the tests that were carried out are: Moisture content, Density of the sand, Determination of the limits of consistency and Granulometric Analysis. In order to elaborate the context of the work, different scientific articles were consulted in order to meet the requirements established by the UTMACH regulations. All the data and values that were applied in the trials for the classification of the soil can be found in the part of annexes at the end of the text.
