Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is a fundamental source of income to grow countries' economies, especially for those that are still considered in development. The constant flow of FDI contributes to movements in the economic system. Ecuador over the years has constantly sought to attract investment through the creation of new economic policies, which have gradually adapted to the requirements of international markets. Policies have been favorable to attract investments to primary sector; however, they have not been sufficient enough in industrial sector. The constant changes of tax reforms have contributed to the growth of Foreign Direct Investment. This academic study is focused on analyze the contribution of Foreign Direct Investment through GDP during 2007 – 2017 period. The research is descriptive and quantitative. Data from 2007 to 2017 were used, corresponding to the IED and GDP variables, the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method was applied for the statistical treatment. The results reflect the homogeneous behavior of FDI and GDP growth rates, and the direct and positive influence of FDI on GDP.
