BACKGROUND: Sensory processing is the basis for the subsequent development of the child, according to Dr. Jean Aires. Determine the individual sensory profile will detect sensory differences; hence the need to use instruments such as the Dunn Sensory Profile to assess the child's responses to sensory experiences, based on the responses of the teacher in charge of the group.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To determine the sensory processing in children from 3 to 5 years of the Sinincay and Reinaldo Chico Educational Units of the Sinincay parish.
METHOD: Cross-section quantitative descriptive study, included 71 pre-school children from 3 to 5 years old. Dunn's Sensory Profile questionnaire was applied to children's teachers for the evaluation of sensory processing; with the respective informed assent. For the analysis and tabulation of data, they used the programs: SPSS Statistics 22 and Microsoft Excel 2016.
RESULTS: The research showed that 1.4% of boys and girls present a probable difference in general sensory processing; The male sex excels at 5 years old. Sections of emotional and behavioral reactions with 9.9% and modulation with 5.6% of likely differences; while the categories oral processing, endurance / tone and emotional / social reaction show the highest percentages of defined differences. Finally, the most representative factors are: oral sensory sensitivity, low resistance, tone, emotionally reactive and sedentary
