For several years now, youth tourism has been continuously gaining importance within the international tourism market. According to the statistics of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the number of young tourists will increase to a total of 370 millon by 2020. As a result, young people will generate tourism revenues estimated at US $400 billon that will contribute to the economy of each of the tourism-receiving countries. Due to the increasing number of international youth tourism flows in connection with progressive with progressive transaction volumes, this target group should also become an important topic in Ecuador. The research took as a case study the University of Cuenca and had a quantitative approach whit a descriptive and cross-sectional scope. In order to investigate the travel behavior of the young students, a cluster sampling was carried out in this 12 called sociodemographic, travel characteristics and tourist expenditures, as recommended by the World Tourism Organization, it was determined that the students of the University of Cuenca maintain a very strong family bond. Most of them are accompanied mainly by their relatives during their trip, which means that the profile of the young students does not show a notable difference to that of their relatives.
