Resumen
Background: The prenatal ultrasound allows direct calculation of fetal size and weight prediction with a confidence interval of 95%. It is important to know ahead fetal weight, because it allows to increase the odds of having an RN survive.
Objectives: To determine the correlation and agreement between ultrasound-estimated fetal weight and the actual weight obtained at birth.
Materials and Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional observational design, in a sample of 509 patients in which we evaluated the correlation and agreement between ultrasound-estimated fetal weight and the actual weight of scale obtained by term infants in the Vicente Corral Moscoso hospital, with a study protocol that included: maternal medical history, ultrasound equipment Xario TOSHIBA TA510 and mechanical scale model HEALTH O METER PROFESSIONAL.
Results: It was shown that the correlation index between the estimated fetal weight and the actual weight was 0726 with a margin of error of 4%.
The linear regression analysis for each gram expresses that obtained in ultrasound weight, the actual weight increase by 0.81 grams.
