Resumen
Background: Stress has existed since the beginning of humanity, generated in response
to adversity, it promoted the survival of human beings, allowing humanity to react to
constant dangers. Since the beginning of medicine, it has been affirmed that certain
sudden emotions or those caused by prolonged frustrations, could cause diseases or
worsen them, so it is important to know how to handle them.
Objective: To describe the psychosocial risk factors of stress perceived by professors of
the Medicine Career of the University of Cuenca- Ecuador, period July - December 2021.
Materials and methods: Cross-sectional, descriptive study, with a sample of 130
teachers. Observational method.
Techniques used: Interview, applying the SUSESO / ISTAS21 questionnaire, short
version, to the professors of the Medicine Career of the University of Cuenca, in the
period July - December 2021. The information processing and analysis was carried out in
SPSSV.23. The risk was calculated according to the questionnaire model, a frequency
table was developed, the risks of the 5 dimensions were averaged to know the Global
Psychosocial Risk. A statistical relationship was sought between psychosocial risk and
the variables surveyed.
Results: A high frequency of high risk was found in the dimension “double presence”
with 48.5%, and on a global scale with 35.6%. People over 55 years of age have less than
half the probability of having this risk, OR = 0.38 (C.I. 95% = 0.159-0.911 P = 0.027).
Conclusion: There is high psychosocial risk, mainly in the “double presence” dimension
in the professors of the Medicine Career of the University of Cuenca Ecuador, period July
- December 2021
