Resumen
The historic center is a coveted spot for the development of economic activities. Buildings have changed their use in order to respond to this activity. The house as a private living place became secondary and now is combined with other uses.
Touristic services are a type of businesses that are increasing in CalleLarga Street. The transformation done in Plaza de la Merced, contributed with businesses as cafes and restaurants. The economic activities are established as a complement of the transformation.
The patrimonial buildings have been converted in to spaces of distraction on weekends. The frontages of the buildings are kept in good condition; however the organization of the insides varies, the typical multifamily housing in the area is being lost as walls and partitions are being thrown down.
Attributes and values are revealed using the typology of values of Randall Manson and the Matrix of Nara: Technical, social, spiritual - religious, historical and aesthetic scientist. These are evaluated in the study area, which is divided into three units; it is found that some are still persistent, however some of this attributes are declining. For instance the attribute multifamily housing, is only found in one of the three units, compared to the seen brick that is in all of these.
It is confirmed by this that the new use of the buildings are contrasting the conservation of values and attributes. That is why this document generates strategies that attempt to recover these elements; and by this it can be conserved.
