Background: Cervical-uterine cancer is a health problem that is associated with poor
populations, minimal schooling, underdeveloped countries, also the lack of access to
prevention and early diagnosis programs. In 2017, Ecuador presented the second most
frequent type of cancer. Based on the knowledge, attitudes and practices the
premalignant lesions timely detection, in this cancer is so important to prevent it.
Objective: Determinate the cervical-uterine cancer, knowledge level, attitudes and
practices in women from Suscal-Cañar city, and Cercapata community.
Methodology: A descriptive, prospective and quantitative study was carried out on the
knowledge, attitudes and practices about cervical-uterine cancer in 162 women, between
15 and 60 years in Cercapata Community. The data were obtained by direct interview
and tabulated in the IBM SPSS Program, it was analyzed with central tendency
measures, percentages and frequencies, the statistical tables has de result.
Results: The mean age was 31.8 years. 49.4% are married, 75.9% are Catholic,
incomplete primary school with 30.2%. The level of knowledge was 39.59% with a low
level, attitudes with 56.7% classifying them as unfavorable attitudes; incorrect practices
with 38.44%.
Conclusion: The indigenous community studied with illiteracy figures, evidenced a high
level of ignorance, as well as unfavorable attitudes and incorrect practices, which must
be reinforced since one of two women in this community does not have information about
neck cancer uterine.
