Resumen
Urban development has encouraged the increase of the residential sector, which
has meant a progressive increase in energy consumption, Specifically in Cuenca,
in recent years the urban area has expanded considerably and consequently high
energy consumption. It also reflects a demand for energy to achieve comfortable
spaces inside the houses, as there is a percentage of occupants who classify their
housing as cold or dark.
To counteract this problem, solutions have been sought at an international
level through energy efficiency practices. Therefore, this study aims to reduce the
demand and energy consumption in single-family housing through the application
of strategies focused on the form. With the assumption of evidencing the influence
that formal characteristics have on energy performance. To do this, 6 case studies
are analyzed, with various formal configurations but maintaining the same surface
and constructive characteristics; to identify the incidence of these on energy
consumption and thermal and light comfort. Finally, the formal configuration
determined, is validated by its application on the cases of study and the reduction of
the energy expenditure it reflects is verified without compromising the habitability
and comfort conditions of the housing.
