Resumen
This Thesis analyzes how Javier Vásconez defines his particular position in the periphery through the hypertextual games that he develops in the stories of Invitados de Honor. To do that, the Ecuadorian narrative context of the second half of the 20th Century has been described through texts which revise critically this period of time. Then, some important topics in Vásconez’s works have been scanned –the ones which let read his novels and stories as a whole integrated and coherent work that is situated in the national literary space and casts doubts on the dominant ways of thinking and making narrative in the country since the 1960s–. Finally, the stories of Invitados de Honor have been analyzed, taking in consideration the typology proposed by Gerard Genette as well as the relations of meaning that such hypertextual experiments can have according to the context in which they have been elaborated
