Resumen
Background: Frailty in the elderly is a state of vulnerability that increases the risk of morbidity and mortality, attributed to age and the suffering of certain pathologies such as Chronic Kidney Disease and its associated factors that greatly affect physical and cognitive, capacity and emotional.
Objectives: To determine frailty in the elderly with Chronic Kidney Disease in the "Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga", Cuenca September 2020 - April 2021.
Methods: Cross-sectional study with an analytical approach, with a sample of 79 older adults suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease at the José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital, through the application of validated questionnaires, whose data obtained will be analyzed and tabulated using the statistical program SPSS version 26.0 and the association of variables was performed using Pearson's Chi Square.
Results: Older adults suffer 38% from frailty, 36.7% are pre-frail and 25.3% are considered robust. The glomerular filtration rate of these patients is 32.95%, established as moderate to severely decreased. These variables have been related, finding a Pearson's Chi square of .000.
Conclusion: Frailty in the elderly is more aggressive in those who suffer from Chronic Kidney Disease, due to various circumstances. The challenge is to differentiate when glomerular filtration is pathological or physiological and to discover early risk factors that promote dependence in the patient and to intervene in a timely manner.
