Introduction. The nutritional status account of the nutritional value and nutritional demands. Obesity in children and adolescents has increased alarming in the last three decades, constituting the nutritional disorder more common in developed societies and in developing countries. Since obesity in these stages determined habits and physical abnormalities and mental determinants for adult, it is crucial to detect it using a correct assessment of nutritional status, allowing early intervention.
Objectives. Determine the nutritional status of the adolescents in schools "UNEDID" and "JAVERIANO" Cuenca and its relationship with eating habits.
Materials and methods. Cross-sectional, study at a time, without making a follow-up, or look back; quantitative results were analyzed using exact numerical indicators.
Results and conclusions. All nutritional disorders (malnutrition, overweight and obesity) are seen more initial teenage and a half, being higher in female than in male. Overweight was higher in urban students than in rural, obesity, and malnutrition in rural areas. Teens with overweight frequently ingest milk derivatives, fats and not nutritious meals, and alcohol, but in smaller quantities. Meats, legumes and cereals, fruits and vegetables, are consumed more or less similar frequently by all groups.
The Group excess body weight daily consume more than recommended milk and derivatives, cereals and pasta, vegetables and vegetables, oil, meat, not nutritious meal, eggs; also eat less necessary fruits, water and breakfast. The normal nutritional state, consume little fruit and water, excessive meat and non-nutritious food. Half of malnourished not eat milk or derivatives, the third part do not eat meat, consume less than recommended cereal and pastries, fruit, oil.
