General Objective: Identify the level of adherence of diabetics and hypertensive patients attending the club Health Center San Pedro del Cebollar, period February to June 2016.
Materials and Methods: A quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional study was performed in 150 patients. Research techniques were interview and test application of Morinsky Green - Levine and Bonilla test.The information processing was performed in SPSS version 20. Descriptive statistics were used absolute frequencies and percentages.
Results: The prevalence of adherence according to Morinsky-Green-Levine test was 48,7% while the non-adherence of 51,3%. The most common level of adherence according Bonilla was the lead for adhesion with 79,3%, followed by the risk to not develop adherence with 18,0% and finally the category can not respond with adherence behavior 2,7%. The type of pathology was associated with adherence, where hypertensive patients had higher adherence (56,3%) than diabetics (30,0%) or with both disorders patients (35,3%).
Conclusions: The adherence was similar to that reported by other studies, so it is suggested to increase efforts in patient education with respect to factors related to therapy to increase the frequency of adherence in patients, and planning prospective studies evaluating the impact of the lack of adherence on the course and evolution of the disease, and to establish regional and national strategies against the lack of adherence to treatment
