Background: Job satisfaction is very important as this; positively or negatively affect worker performance.
Objective: To evaluate the degree of job satisfaction and factors associated nursing staff in the service of Clinical Surgery and Pediatrics Hospital "José Carrasco Arteaga" Cuenca 2014.
Methodology: A cross-sectional study was performed with a finite universe of 58 people nurses / os and assistants who work in the service of Clinical Surgery and Pediatrics Hospital "José Carrasco Arteaga". As the interview research technique and an instrument Font Roja questionnaire consisting of 24 items, to assess job satisfaction was applied. For tabulation and analysis was developed in SPSS version 15 through Excel tables to analyze results were formulated.
Results: Of the 58 people surveyed 98.3% is female staff and 1.7% male. The predominant age group is 24 to 30 years 63.8%. 63.8% work less than a year. 74.1% are graduates and 25.9% nursing assistants. The overall job satisfaction is 53.4% moderate. What factors are: 70.7% and 17.2% moderate tension high. 58.6% have medium pressure and 25.9% high. 37.9% reported moderate professional competence, 60.3% moderate professional promotions and 39.7% higher. 75.9% maintained good relations with the heads, 24.1% regular relations. The relationship of fellowship are good 82.8% and 17.2% regular. As extrinsic characteristics have high satisfaction 27.6%, 69% and under 3.4% average. 44.8% feel fairly monotonous work and 13.8% high monotony.
Conclusions: There vulnerability factors as "tension", "career development", "extrinsic characteristics of status" and "labor monotony" problems of organizational context, labor distribution and balance, adding to it a professional recognition not according to staff of health.
